Hip Hop 4 Housing fundraiser was designed to generate funds for SAGA’s Home Sharing program, due to
Chicago’s Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection enforced an ordinance regulating short-term rentals, in May of 2016. It also required all hosts to register their units for rent so that the city could track the number of units rented short-term. The premise is to keep commercial renters from listing multiple units in residential buildings turning them into hotels. The fine for violators is $100,000.
